ONLINE COURSE IN PERFORMING ARTS LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

GPI Certificate in Performing Arts Leadership and Management
The online Course in Performing Arts Leadership and Management is designed to provide future performing arts executive and artistic leaders with the industry skills required in the 21st century.
The GPI course program provides online training in arts leadership, marketing, fundraising, financial management, entrepreneurship and governance, and program/project planning that prepares students to find a meaningful professional career in the field of performing arts management, artistic leadership, and arts entrepreneurship.
The program is intended for students who hold a baccalaureate degree in music, theatre, dance or related fields, emerging leaders who hold an entry-level arts position and are seeking to advance their career, and those seeking to change career to arts leadership and management.
Full credit program can be completed in as little as one semester or may be completed at a slower pace.
Experiential learning through an arts management internship and optional enrollment is embedded in the curriculum.
MAJOR AREAS
Arts Marketing
Key marketing concepts and their application in the arts and cultural sectors. From the traditional definition of marketing and to the specifics of the marketing approach in the field of culture.
Managing Cultural Products and Brands
Understanding key decisions that need to be made when managing products and brands in the cultural sector and the unique nature of cultural products; how to analyze product markets; how to create a meaningful consumer experience; and how to develop, protect and leverage a strong brand. Many company visits.
Heritage Management
The starting point of the course is the international definition of heritage as defined by UNESCO. During the course, students will analyze how museums and heritage are managed and administered in the world ( Europe, Asia, America) , reflecting on the advantages and drawbacks of marketing the arts.
Fundraising in the Arts
Raising funds in the private and public sectors, researching and managing corporate gifts, as well as foundation and government grants.

ADMISSIONS
Entrance Requirements
Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree or equivalent in music, theatre, dance, business, or other area of study within arts and culture. As part of the Greenwich Piano Institute application process, an interview via Zoom with the Program Director is required. Persons with baccalaureate degrees in other disciplines may be considered on an individual basis if they have had extensive non-curricular experiences in the arts.
Transfer of Credits
Up to nine credits may be transferred into this curriculum when earned at an accredited institution and when the credits fulfill required courses.
